This weekend I photographed the Awesome 3000, a run for kids in Salem that raises funds for a local Education Foundation. At the finish line I first concentrated on capturing volunteers placing metals over kids’ heads, but then I noticed that most kids looked down with wonder at their shiny new metals, and I worked on capturing that subtle glance. -Phil
